Introduction

DMPonline.be is an online platform powered by Belnet and based on DCC’s DMPonline, that helps researchers to create, manage, collaborate on, review, and export Data Management Plans (DMPs). It allows institutions to monitor DMP activities, define custom templates, and provide specific guidance on how to fill out a DMP.

A DMP is a document describing how research data will be managed throughout and after a project, covering questions of storage, costs, responsibility, FAIR principles, ethics and legal considerations, or any other data management question applicable to the project.

In DMPonline.be, DMPs are created using templates. Templates are developed by funders and institutions, and they consist of structured sets of questions designed to support data management planning. They are presented as forms organised into phases, sections, and questions. This guide explains the main features available to researchers and collaborators when using DMPonline.be.
